Refunds & Cancellations

Last updated October 2026 · Draft, specific windows and fees are still being finalized
This page is a working draft. The exact cancellation windows, fee amounts, and auto-release timing below are placeholders reflecting how the system is built to work. They'll be confirmed and this page updated before iHandyApp launches publicly. Check back here, or contact us if you need the current rule for a specific case.

1. How payment protection works

When you pay for a job or a food order, the money is held by iHandyApp in a protected status. It is not paid out to the provider or vendor immediately. It's released once you confirm the job or order is complete, or once a dispute you've raised has been reviewed and decided.

2. Home services: cancellations

  • Before a provider accepts: you can cancel a request at any time, free of charge, since nothing has been paid yet at this stage.
  • After you've paid for an accepted quote: the job is protected-payment and can't be freely cancelled from your side. If something's wrong (the provider hasn't shown up, the job can't go ahead, or anything else) use "Report a problem" in the app to open a dispute, rather than relying on a self-serve cancel button.
  • If a provider cancels after accepting a paid job, your payment is refunded.

3. Food orders: cancellations

  • Pending orders (not yet confirmed by the vendor) can be cancelled with no refund needed, since payment hasn't been captured yet in most cases.
  • Once a vendor has confirmed and started preparing an order, cancellation is handled case by case. Contact support in the app as early as possible.
  • Once an order is out for delivery or ready for pickup, it generally can't be cancelled, since the food itself may already be prepared.

4. How a refund is decided

A refund on a paid, in-progress job or order goes through our in-app dispute process rather than an automatic button, so both sides get a fair hearing. Our team reviews the chat history, photos, and any other evidence, and decides one of: releasing the payment to the provider or vendor as normal, a partial refund, a full refund, or dismissing the complaint. The ledger is updated to match whatever is decided.

5. How long a refund takes

Once a refund is approved, it's sent back through Paystack to your original payment method. Paystack's own processing typically takes a few business days to reflect in your account, depending on your bank. We'll confirm a more exact window here once that's been tested against a live Paystack account.

6. Contact us

If you have a question about a specific refund or cancellation, the fastest route is the dispute or support option inside the app. For anything else, write to hello@ihandyapp.com.
